Early Release Inmate Now Wanted for Double Homicide
July 27, 2009Fresno County Jail was holding 19 year old Jose Alfredo Reyes on one count of auto theft. Highway patrol had arrested him and booked him in to the jail on a Sunday. Reyes was released early because the Fresno jail was overcrowded. He is now sought after for a double homicide that happened three days later.
Wednesday, following Reyes’ release, Gary DeBartolo and his wife Sandra, ages 61 and 62, respectively, were found dead. The DeBartolo house was under surveillance at the time of the shooting because police got a tip that the couple was housing and growing marijuana plants. The police saw three people enter the DeBartolo house, but only two left. Police chased these two from Kerman to Fresno where they crashed and were arrested on two counts each of murder and home invasion.
Jose Alfredo Reyes is still at large, armed and dangerous.
