Sacramento Bail Bondsman Wins Case Against DA
August 30, 2009Sacramento bail bondsman says that Solano County District Attorney and investigator violated his civil rights. After three days, an eight member jury sided with the bondsman and awarded him $9,000 in punitive damages and $72,000 in compensatory damages for the attorney’s cost.
How did this all start? The bail bondsman had threats on himself and his family and sought the help of the local DA. No help was given by the DA and the bail bondsman repeatedly called the DA for help. Later, the bail bondsman publicly criticized the DA’s office with newspaper ads and this is where the circus started. The DA fired back with a temporary restraining order and fabricating alleged evidence to support this. The bail bondsman then filed a suit against the DA’s office charging a violation of his civil rights, stating that he was deprived of his First Amendment Rights and also damaging his business.
