Professor: Stop Stalking Burbank Weatherman Or Go To Jail

September 7, 2009

KNBC’s Burbank weatherman, Fritz Coleman is under siege by emails and letters from Melanie Renfrew, a Harbor College teacher. Renfrew says that people are confused between the terms onshore and offshore winds and that Coleman should change this.

KNBC obtained the restraining order because they thought the actions were a bit bizarre. Renfrew pleaded no contest to the violation. Burbank Assistant City Attorney indicates that as long as Renfrew ceases the letters and emails that they will dismiss the case.

Renfrew faces six months in the Burbank jail if she doesn’t stop the email and letter barrage. Wouldn’t her efforts be better if she focused them on her students and teaching. It’s fairly clear that onshore winds means winds that are heading towards the shore, hence “on” shore and offshore meaning “off” as in away. I don’t have an MBA and even I know that.
