108 Arrested in Fresno, California
Written by 888BailBond Bondsman on April 29, 2010 – 5:51 pm -In Fresno this week a gang crackdown was started by the Fresno Police Department where more than 100 people were arrested and are now facing a variety of charges. Due to the weekend violence police officials are saturating the area in this ongoing crackdown.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer sent out orders to start looking for drugs and guns in a Fresno neighborhood that is known for gang activity. The gang activity sweeps started after one man died on Saturday, and two more people were shot in a double homicide on Sunday morning at Poppy and Grove avenues. A 16-year-old boy, who was also found dead amongst these weekend killings, was reported as having an AK-47 assault rifle.
During this sweep of gang activity there have been approximately 108 people arrested. There were also six search warrants served and 55 arrested on felony charges.
The Fresno Sheriff’s office said it was unclear as to how many of those arrested are still in custody as they do not track people released in these gang sweeps due to overcrowding.
Fresno’s homicide numbers for the year are currently at 20 people, after adding the weekend killings.

Reform to Bail Bond Industry?
Written by Robin Sandoval-March on April 28, 2010 – 7:48 am -A new measure this week comes out of the Missouri House Rules Committee which proposes that bail bonds should be prohibited to be issued for any convicted felons. Starting next year, there will be more accountability in the bail bonds industry in Missouri.

Based on the agencies’ assets, it would determine Read more »
The Quaids Ordered to Jail by Santa Barbara Judge
Written by Robin Sandoval-March on April 27, 2010 – 7:41 am -It just goes to show that no matter what your socio-economic background, social status, or celebrity status for that matter, the law is going to hold you accountable for your deeds.
Case in point, Randy and Evie Quaid. The Quaids have been in the news headlines in the past year or more – first for allegedly defrauding a Santa Barbara Hotel, then not showing up for their court dates. In the world of jails, judges and laws, if you’re asked by a judge to show up to court you’d better go, or there will be no ‘get out of jail free’ cards for you.
Judges don’t take to kindly to those that disobey their orders. Because the Quaids missed their day in court, they were remanded to custody at a Santa Barbara jail with a $100,000 bail. Judge Frank Ochoa felt the couple were being disrespectful. He brought up the time they showed up in court and “showed off” their Golden Globe award. He did give them a $20,000 credit however for a previous bail they paid. Nice guy.
Rightfully, the Quaids apologized to the judge. They have another hearing this Wednesday. Hope they take the judges orders a little more seriously this time. And maybe they should just leave their trophies, and their pride at home.

L.A. Men’s Central Jail Gets a little Zen
Written by Robin Sandoval-March on April 21, 2010 – 6:15 am -
One inmate spoke his mind so perfectly, “How do I find a way to go beyond these bars?” He describes that being is jail is a difficult enviornment in which to exist; with the constant clanking of jail cell doors being shut, inmates shouting and loud instructions coming through the intercom system.
Being locked in a jail cell can’t be easy. But a program initiated at Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail , may offer many inmates a much needed ’metaphysical outlet’ by way of meditation classes, according to the Los Angeles Times.
A Buddhist Chaplain has been helping the inmates see a calmer, lighter sense of being through a popular weekly meditiation course being offered. So successful, it’s now Read more »
