When someone is arrested by a member of the LAPD Valley Division they’ll be handcuffed, read their Miranda Rights, placed into the back of the squad car and transported to the Van Nuys Jail to be booked and processed.
When the defendant arrives at the jail they will need to go through the intake process. The defendant will be interviewed by a jailer to find out whether they have any medical issues and the defendant will be asked to provide basic information such as their name, date of birth and address.
From there, the defendant will need to undergo a national background check and warrant screen. This generally takes between 4 and 6 hours to complete and the jail will not allow anyone to post bail bonds until this is done.
