Years ago, it wasn’t all that uncommon to find spit ball guns and paper airplanes in classrooms. Today, students who use these items could find themselves charged with a crime. If you have school-aged children, you might want to advise them to leave this stuff at home!
A 17-year-old South Carolina high school student is facing assault and battery charges after he hit his teacher in the eye with a paper airplane.
If he’s convicted, he could go to juvenile hall for a month!
Police say the teacher was pretty angry over the incident, especially since he’d just had eye surgery. The teacher also said this wasn’t the first time this particular student had disciplinary problems, and he felt that something more needed to be done.
The unnamed-student was charged with third-degree assault and battery. He’s since been released from custody.
Police haven’t said whether the student has had prior brushes with the law.
