Written by Robin Sandoval on July 14, 2010 – 1:32 pm -In the world of bail, there are different variations when it comes to the types of bonds used, and ways to have people released from jail. While the words “bail” and “bail bond” are often used interchangably, there is definately a difference.
Specifically, according to Princeton University’s WordNet, Bail (as a noun) is: ”the legal system that allows an accused person to be temporarily released from custody (usually on condition that a sum of money guarantees their appearance at trial).”
And, Bail (as a verb) is: “secure the release of (someone) by providing security.”

Written by Robin Sandoval on July 8, 2010 – 2:30 pm -REDWOOD CITY — The County Board of Supervisors are in talks for a new jail in Redwood City which has a price tag of $18.7 annually – just to staff and operate. This is on top of the $150 million to merely construct the new facility.

According to San Mateo County Sheriff, Greg Munks, the County currently spends approximately $56 million each year to run the older facilities. The new facility would add an additional $74.8 million to that cost.

The Judge issued Lindsay three 30-day sentences which include 90-days in a locked-down drug rehab facility. The sentence was apparently harsher than prosecutors thought would be handed down.
