Polanski’s Swiss Bail Set 4.5 Millions
Written by 888BailBond Bondsman on November 26, 2009 – 8:30 am -
It’s the story bail bondsmen around the world are talking about: A Swiss Court has just granted international film director Roman Polanski, 76, bail yesterday. The court reversed it’s previous rejection of setting a bail, saying it is now confident the high bond — 4.5 million — plus continued electronic monitoring of Polanski’s chalet in the Swiss resort of Gstaad, will compel him to remain in the country under house arrest.
Meanwhile, Swiss officials still continue to gauge whether or not they should extradite the infamous director to the United States, which has demanded his return. The Swiss Justice Ministry tempered the court’s decision by Read more »

Bank Robber Mom Out On $25,000 Bail
Written by Robin Sandoval-March on November 20, 2009 – 1:45 pm -What have we come to in a world where a mother of five children will resort to guerrilla tactics and air-headed iron will just to make a living? Maybe the money is good? At any rate, (bank rate that is), Roxanne Pennock, age 37 pleaded not guilty to a Riverside County Court Judge yesterday on charges she robbed two Temecula banks on October 22nd and again on November 6th.
She’s also suspected of holding up two more banks in Poway which she’s not officially been charged for, yet. Pennock was arrested in Temecula on November 6th, just minutes after a woman robbied Temecula Chase Bank. She was later stopped in a van that witnesses identified at the crime scene.
Guilty or not, Pennock is out of jail on a $25,000 bail. Her lawyer, declined to comment after she was ordered back to court on December 17th. Officials have some further investigations to do. The FBI is now on the case along with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

LA Sheriffs Arrest 73 Year Old Tagger
Written by 888BailBond Bondsman on November 16, 2009 – 10:06 am -
There’s a new crime wave in LA — geriatric taggers! Sheriff’s deputies recently arrested a 73-year-old local man for allegedly putting slap tags — stickers with a printed message — inside MTA buses and stations.
Perhaps the aged tagger had had it with ‘teenage tagger-hooligans and their misspellings and their naughty language’. He certainly showed those ‘young whipper-slappers’ a thing or two by eluding deputies for over half a year. Witness descriptions of an old man seen around LA’s Westside, plastering orange and black stickers that asked “Who Is John Scott?” deepened the mystery.
According to the Los Angeles Times, deputies answered his question on November 13, when Read more »
Hollywood LAPD Arrests Spiderman
Written by 888BailBond Bondsman on November 13, 2009 – 8:51 am -
Typical Hollywood? It’s sounds like a scene from a movie as LAPD officers cuff a man dressed as Spiderman and place him in a squad car.
According to the Los Angeles Times, LAPD patrol officers received a call reporting an incident between a tourist and a a man in a Spiderman costume. When they arrived, they encountered four different people dressed Spidey.
“They stopped one, it wasn’t him,” LAPD Lt. Beverly Lewis said. “They stopped the second, and it was the suspect.”
The victim, who said he was hit in the face and arms, refused to press charges. But Lewis said that when they discovered the warrants, he was booked at the LAPD Hollywood Station Jail. Christopher Loomis, 39, was being held on outstanding misdemeanor warrants in lieu of $5,500 bail.
I think this LA Times photo is priceless; look at the woman’s face: Read more »
The Big, Big Bail Game… Can You Play?
Written by Robin Sandoval-March on September 17, 2009 – 8:12 pm -Do Not Pass Go… Do Not Collect Two-Hundred Dollars
If for some unfortunate circumstance you are jailed in California and want to bail yourself out, you’ll need to pay 10% of whatever the bail amount is. For example, if your bail is set by the judge at $10,000, you’ll need to come up with $1,000 to pay a bail agent. Even in this strapped economy, there are a lot of families who can get together and come up with that kind of money. Pretty basic, right?
As a caveat, if your bail amount was set at $30 million dollars (as in the case of one, Mr. Phillip Garrido), you would need to pay your friendly bail agent 10%, well… $3 million dollars. Let’s just say that like the rest of America, the Placerville judge wasn’t taking too kindly to Mr. Garrido when he showed up for his day in court. Seems as the accused kidnapper and rapist of Jaycee Dugard, Mr. Garrido’s stiff bail amount would make it very difficult for him to get back onto the streets. A fit decision, I’d surmise. However, Garrido’s bail amount was far from being the highest ever set. And he isn’t alone when it comes to notorious people with multi-million dollar bails Read more »

What Happens When Protesters Are Arrested
Written by Tonya Rynerson on November 17, 2008 – 1:52 pm -| With the recent California Proposition 8 protests and arrests, many people have asked me if we bail such protesters out of jail.
Basically, the process for arrest of protesters is the same as other arrests: they are taken to the local jurisdiction jail, processed with fingerprints and checked for warrants.

In my experience as a bondsman, assuming no warrants, or Read more »
