Like you, we’ve followed Lindsey Lohan from child star to Lynwood Jail and back again. The new member of the Gotti movie cast could be facing some serious trouble when she heads back to court today, according to E!.

Lohan will be going before a judge for both a preliminary hearing on her theft case and a probation-revocation hearing to determine whether she’s been in enough trouble to be sent back to Lynwood jail, Los Angeles County’s women’s jail, immediately.

Here’s a breakdown of what the star is in for today:

Lindsey’s Preliminary Hearing

The prosecution faces the task of convincing a judge that there’s enough evidence to proceed with a trial in the theft case. E! News was told by criminal-defense attorney Troy Slaten (not involved in Lohan case) that the DA has the option of calling witnesses or the lead investigator. Slaten expects that prosecutors will rely on witnesses in this case.
This is because there will likely be a lot of people watching and it will help counteract stories from the media. It will also help bolster the probation-revocation hearing. Lohan could be remanded and spend up to six months in jail.

Lohan’s Defense Team Strategy

Slaten says he expects for Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Holley, to spend a lot of time cross-examining the DA’s witnesses to help poke holes in the evidence. Introducing their own evidence this early on could give the prosecutors an advantage.

The Judge

This isn’t the first time Lohan has faced a no-nonsense judge. Overseeing this case is Superior Court Judge Stephanie Saunter, who will not allow cameras into the courtroom, much to media and public disappointment, no doubt.

What are her likely outcomes?

If it goes in her favor, She walks out a free woman, the judge seeing no probation violation or enough evidence to be put on trial for a felony theft charge. Lohan absolutely refused to take a plea deal of no contest with some jail time.
If it goes against her favor? She gets remanded to jail immediately for probation violation. If she’s guilty of the felony theft, even more jail time.

If she gets remanded, she could be looking at 90 days in jail, minus credit for time served. With the overcrowding in L.A. jails, many people are doing only a fraction of their sentences.

On Wednesday, actor and director Mel Gibson, reportedly made a plea deal with prosecutors, which involves no jail time, for the domestic charges he was arrested on last year. According to the L.A. County DA’s office, on Friday, Mel Gibson will go before the court and plead no contest to a smaller misdemeanor battery charge in regards to his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva.

An anonymous source who is directly engaged with the case revealed to the Associate Press that Gibson would be able to undergo counseling instead of serving time in jail. As bail bondsmen, this is consistent with first time domestic violence charges received by a defendant in Los Angeles County. In other words, it does not appear that Gibson is getting any special treatment.

According to Blair Berk, Gibson’s attorney, he wanted to settle with the plea agreement after he prioritized his children’s interests, which includes his infant daughter shared with Grigorieva. Last year, Grigorieva accused Gibson of domestic violence and since then, they’ve been in a bitter battle over custody rights of their daughter, Lucia. Gibson has been seeking an extortion case against Grigorieva which has yet to be determined by prosecutors.

According to a statement released by attorney Beck, she stated “I know from almost 20 years as a criminal defense lawyer that sometimes justice can come for a client at too high a personal price. That is particularly so for Mel, whose right to due process can only be exercised in this case with an enormous media circus attached.”

On Wednesday, a hoax has transpired creating a lot of attention to the overdue justice of the 2Pac murder.

Suge Knight, CEO of Death Row Records, was said to have been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department in connection with the 1996 Tupac Shakur (2Pac) murder. However, in regards to the LAPD, they have confirmed that this is the biggest hoax to emerge in 2010 circulating the murder.

According to Internet chat rooms, bulletin boards and relentless Google searches, it is said that details surrounding a report of the arrest of Suge Knight on Wednesday, December 29th, has created a gigantic hoax which is reportedly just not true.

The 1996 murder of rapper and poet Tupac Shakur, better known as 2Pac, in Las Vegas unfortunately has still not been solved nor have any leads been determined.

The LAPD has denied all allegations of arresting Suge Knight and the connection with 2Pac’s murder. Furthermore, more rumors have stirred indicating Suge Knight’s involvement with the rapper Biggie Smalls murder, aka Christopher Wallace, which is equally untrue.

This hoax, along with other celebrity deaths, is taking place on the Internet as we speak but all allegations are not true.

HOLLYWOOD — 2010 has seen its share of celebrity, sports star and political figure arrests. So let’s go back a bit, (a count down if you will), to see how those on our list of 10 fared in the legal-go-round battle with… the jail turnstile.

(We’ve included several previously blogged about here on KeepBailing.com However, this is not an exhaustive list.)

#10 - Chris Klein

Chris Klein, best known for his role in American Pie, was arrested for driving under the influence on June 16th just after 3:15 AM on an alleged DUI. He was driving on the 101 Freeway, with his dog. He was later bailed out of the Van Nuys Jail. It’s reported his blood alcohol level was just about three times the legal limit in California, which is .08 percent. Rovers should never let their owners drive drunk!

# 9 – Russel Brand

Our newly married, Mr. Katy Perry was arrested for misdemeanor battery for an alleged scuffle at LAX with some over zealous Papparazzi. The couple was passing through the security checks when an attempt was made to photograph Katy’s skirt. We’re happy to report that Mr. Brand definitely made it to the Greek on time.

# 8 - Joey Porter

The Arizona Cardinals star Linebacker ended up in the Bakersfield Jail, arrested on misdemeanor DUI. He allegedly resisted arrest and battered a peace officer. Reportedly, it all happened outside of a Taco Bell at when Porter was asked for his license by a CHP officer. He refused and rolled up the window. He then made the unfortunate mistake of ‘slapping’ the officer’s hand. Ouch!

# 7 – Senator Roy Ashburn

State Sen. Roy Ashburn was pulled over by CHP officers after they noticed him driving erratically at the wheel of a state Senate-issued Chevy Tahoe. When stopped, officers noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication. He was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors. One for driving with a blood alcohol level in excess of .08% and DUI.

# 6 – Redmond O’Neal

Redmond O’Neal, who happens to be the son of the late Charlie’s Angels actress Farrah Fawcett and actor Ryan O’Neal, was remanded back to jail after violating his probation for a series of drug offenses. O’Neal was sentenced to a 30-day, in-custody drug-treatment program thanks to his inability to stay clean.

#5 – Jason Wahler

The former realty star of “The Hills” was reportedly arrested a sixth time for drunk driving by the Newport Beach Police Department. Wahler was stopped and handcuffed by police around 11:00 p.m. on March 20, 2010, but he was released without bail on his own recognizance (“O.R.”) hours later.

#4 – Randy and Evie Quaid

The Quaids have been in and out of the news headlines in the past year or more – first for allegedly defrauding a Santa Barbara Hotel, then not showing up for their court dates. In the world of jails, judges and laws, if you’re asked by a judge to show up to court you’d better go, or there will be no ‘get out of jail free’ cards. Seems like they had to play the game over and over again.

#3 – David Cassidy

“Come on, get happy?” David was arrested on a DUI charge in Florida in November. The Partridge Family cast royalty was in his Mercedes Benz when he was stopped for weaving in and out of traffic, almost causing an accident. Oops, police also found a half empty bottle of bourbon in the car. Maybe he was rehearsing for a new role?

#2 – Paris Hilton

Paris, oh Paris. Arrested again in South Africa for allegedly smoking pot at the World Cup Match. Later, she was arrested in Las Vegas for cocaine possession. For a girl who seems to have it all, the world just doesn’t seem to be enough.

And the #1 Celebrity Arrest in 2010 – Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan expressed a look of shock, awe and heavy tears when Judge Marsha N. Revel handed the screen queen a mandatory 90 day jail term for violating her probation. Lindsay served a partial jail time at the Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF), Los Angeles County’s Women’s Jail, also known as the Lynwood Jail. Here’s hoping Ms. Lohan is set to fly straight and give her career a big turn around as we move into 2011.

And speaking of moving into 2011, (famous or not), each and every one of us can look forward to a fresh, new year of clean slates, driving sober and keeping our butts out of jail.

From all of us at www.KeepBailing.com, we wish all of you a Happy New Year! And we truly emphasise the word, “Happy.”

The L.A. Sheriff’s deputy, responsible for the 2006 arrest of Mel Gibson for drunk driving, is suing his department in claims that he’s been ostracized and dismissed for promotions by the department since the arrest took place.

The lawsuit details repercussions for Deputy James Mee’s emotional distress, mental suffering as well as damages for the loss of income, medical bills, and benefits. Mee claims his superiors forced him to remove any reference to anti-semitic slurs by Mr. Gibson. Furthermore, the racial comments and slurs appeared to have been leaked on a celebrity website.

Mee declares that after Gibson’s arrest, he was transferred and has not been eligible for awards since the incident. The lawsuit further states that the department has violated certain policies by avoiding the investigation of the leak of information for 4 years which has inadvertently caused severe damage to Mee and his eligibility to be promoted.

Steve Whitmore, the L.A. Sheriff’s spokesman has denied all allegations. He further stated, “The whole story is not being told in this lawsuit and we look forward to telling it. It has nothing to do with religious discrimination. We categorically deny those allegations.”

During the leak investigation, Mee was suspected for his report leak. The Los Angeles DA’s office reportedly didn’t want to press charges against Mee.

Along with the claims that Mee was to alter his report for the Gibson arrest, his lawsuit also states that a tape existed of Gibson in the booking area and was erased by a sergeant in the department.

Etan Z. Lorant, Mee’s attorney stated that the video had been recorded by a handheld camera and displayed Gibson using religious slurs. Lorant said, “He’s done nothing wrong,” when speaking about Mee’s reputation being in cahoots over this incident and the hopes that the lawsuit will restore it.

Whitmore, in rebuttal, states that nothing from the Gibson case has been destroyed or altered.

Lohan will have some serious thinking time to do for failing to attend her weekly alcohol education classes, ordered by the Los Angeles Court Judge for previous drunk driving charges in 2007. The Judge issued Lindsay three 30-day sentences which include 90-days in a locked-down drug rehab facility. The sentence was apparently harsher than prosecutors thought would be handed down.

Judge Revel included the instance where Lindsay had lied, a fact the Judge didn’t take too kindly to. “There were a number of instances of [Lohan] not taking things seriously… It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught.”

Lindsay explained her passport had been stolen during the time she attended the Cannes Film Festival as the reason for her missing her mandatory court date. However, photos surfaced of the Herbie star partying in Cannes like it was 1999.

Further, Lindsay denied owning a pair of “party pants” laced with cocaine, saying they belonged to someone else. She later tested positive for cocaine following that arrest. And the charges just kept adding up when in June, Lindsay’s alcohol monitoring bracelet she was ordered to wear, read that she had in fact been drinking. A charge she also denied.

The Judge simply stated, “She lied, then lied prior to that.” Lindsay fought back tears in court stating, “As far as I knew I was in compliance with my programs… I wasn’t trying to get special treatment,” she added.

We’ll have to wait see what the final outcome is. Serving time at the CRDF jail in Lynwood for any length of time could be a frightenly harsh “reality check” for anyone; celebrity or civilian.

We’ve been surprised how many people visit our blog and enjoy the news stories on celebrity and sports star arrests, jail issues, and police crack-downs, but don’t realize that we are a licensed, professional California bail bond company.

Greg Rynerson Bail Bonds is owned and operated by Greg Rynerson and his wife, Tonya. Years later, Greg started his own bail company.

Well Chris Klein, best known for his “apple cheeked” role in American Pie, is the latest report of celebs arrested for driving under the influence. I know it’s not just the celebrities, but the repeated incidents of famous people drinking and driving seems to be a sad commentary on the publics attitude about this very dangerous activity.

Klein was arrested on June 16th just after 3:15 AM on an alleged DUI. He was driving on the 101 Freeway with his dog. He was later bailed out of the Van Nuys Jail. It’s reported his blood alcohol level was just about 3 times legal limit in California, which is .08 percent.

If found guilty this time, Chris could be facing a minimum of four days behind bars. He was also arrested in 2004, where he was charged with two counts of DUI. He pleaded guilty and was fined $1,800 and performed community service.

With new laws that take effect this year in July, a multiple DUI offender may have to use an “ignition interlock system,” before they can get behind the wheel of a car.

The new device would be installed directly on the person’s vehicle. When they want to drive, they’d have to take a breathalyzer test right then and there. The device will read if they have been drinking. If they were, the car just won’t start. Pretty darn smart for a device, and good for public safety too. Maybe it will make a difference.

The 49ers defensive lineman, Ray McDonald, arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence expressed his apologies on Monday.

McDonald, 25, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in San Mateo County on Saturday evening. He was booked and released one and a half hours later from San Mateo County Jail located in Redwood City.

McDonald gave a brief statement to reporters saying his lawyer advised him not to speak about the case. He stated, “I just want to let you all know that whenever it works itself out, you’ll know everything that’s going on.” He further stated, “I just want to apologize for making this a distraction because that’s not my intent. My intent is to come out here and work hard and try to win ballgames this year.”

A team spokesman commented on McDonald’s arrest saying, “We take these issues very seriously but will reserve further comment at this time, as this is an ongoing legal matter.”

In 2007, McDonald was drafted from Florida in a third-round draft pick. Last season, McDonald’s record as a defensive tackle in pass-rush situations included 29 tackles and three sacks.

His scheduled court date is for July 22.

League sources say that Ellison did not get the pain medication from the Chargers team.

Jerome Stanley, Ellison’s agent stated his client has had the pills because of issues with his knee; he didn’t want to have to keep obtaining more, which is why he was found with such a large amount.

After Ellison’s arrest, coach Turner of the Chargers instructed him to keep away from mini camp to keep the team away from any distraction this situation may cause.

Ellison played for USC and started nine games as a rookie in 2009 for the San Diego Chargers. Ellison’s bail was set at $10,000 and he was later released from jail.
