Sports Celebrity Status, Synonymous with DUI’s?

They can catch flying projectiles in a split second, run faster than lightening, jump higher than a house, hit impossible targets, throw farther than anyone should – and for all of that, they are duly paid a king’s ransom.

But for all their prowess, fame and fortune, more and more sports celebrities are catching more and more of those name and game stealing DUI’s. That’s right. Arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.  Is it the stress or strain of being under the public eye? Over 1000 DUI Arrests in Los Angeles Christmas Week

Ah… the holidays.  A joyous time for overindulging in every sort of way.  Evidently, in Los Angeles, more than 1,000 people must have partied too much, because this is the staggering number of arrests made for driving under the influence during a week long crackdown campaign by the CHP that lasted right on through to Christmas Day. This law enforcement coalition, known as AVOID, has announced that no less than 1,030 DUI arrests were made as compared to 969 during the same period last year.

John Kerry’s Daughter Arrested in Hollywood For DUI

Senator John KerrySenator John Kerry’s daughter, Alexandra Forbes Kerry, was pulled over in the wee-hours in Hollywood by Los Angeles Police Department  for a traffic violation.

Police reported having “detected signs and symptons” of her being under the influence. She was given a breathalyzer test and charged with a misdemeanor DUI at the LAPD Hollywood Station. Ms. Kerry, an indpendant filmmaker is known for her documentaries and short films.

Judge Issues “Last Time Warning” To Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay LohanOur favorite celebrity arrestee alum, Lindsay Lohan just may have to pay the jail piper again if she doesn’t follow a judges orders to complete her scheduled alcohol counseling meetings. This comes as a follow-up to her 2007 arrest for driving under the influence of cocaine and alcohol.

Beverly Hills Judge, Marsha Revel ordered Ms. Lohan to appear in Court because someone spilled the beans, telling the judge Lindsay had been missing her meetings.  According to her attorney, Lindsay has attended approximately 1/2  of the mandated sessions, but that her blooming career has kept her from attending the full schedule of compulsory alcohol rehab.

Mel Gibson’s Arrest Sparks Media Leak Debate

Mel GibsonIn more celebrity arrest news, Mel Gibson’s conviction for drunk driving was finally expunged this week.  He has met the requirements of his probation after his 2006 drunk driving arrest.

However, in an attempt to uncover what some are saying was a media leak from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, authorities have discovered two calls were made to Harvey Levin of TMZ the exact day of Gibson’s arrest.

Marin Couple Designate A 13-year-Old Driver

Child Designated DriveTalk about irresponsible. Two assumedly grown adults we’re too sloshed to drive themselves home – so they asked their 13-year-old relative to do the chauffering! 

Seems the couple have had previous run-ins with the law having been charged with DUIs, so why have to suffer through another one?
