LAPD Works to Reestablish Anti-Gang Task Force

This week, officials hurriedly tried to reassemble six anti-gang units, since all of LAPD’s specialized officers declined to sign a compliance that included a financial disclosure rule. According to Chief Officer, Charlie Beck, the Los Angeles Police Department is confident that they would be able to reassemble all six units prior to the crime surge that comes in the summer.

San Diego County Sheriff Deputy Receives Honored

Parade Magazine is honoring law enforcement officers, and one of those being William “Brian” Hout an officer in San Diego.

The annual contest called “Police Officer of the Year” has given an honorable mention to Sergeant Hout of the San Diego Sheriff’s County Department.  The International Association of Chiefs of Police and the magazine are responsible for picking the winners.

Hout is being recognized for his work with the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force – Gang Group, with an emphasis on the “Operation Keys to the City” investigation. Oceanside Police Gain Injuction Against Gangs

Friday, the Oceanside Police Department gained a banned on the most active gangs in the area by placing a civil suit on them, according to the North County Times.

San Diego County Deputy DA, Dana Greisen said, “The injunction affects two neighborhoods being terrorized by gang members.” She also said they were seeking this injunction, “after residents had reported to the Oceanside [police] and the DA’s office that they were being harassed, intimidated and victimized by gang members on a regular basis.”

LASD Arrests 43 Pasadena Gang Members

Chief Neal Tyler of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department announced that 43 gang members had been arrested. Originally a Pasadena area gang, they had extended their operation into Antelope Valley, which is where the arrest occurred.

The resulting arrests took place due to a partnership operation involving several different police forces. In total, approximately 400 police officers helped to perform the arrests, which included the help from; Antelope Valley Crime Fighting Initiative, California State Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation, Los Angeles County Probation Department, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department-Operation Safe Streets Bureau, United States Drug Enforcement Administration Mobile Enforcement Team, and United States Drug Enforcement Administration High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.

San Bernardino Gang Raid Leads to 22 Arrests

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — 22 people have been arrested in raids which have targeted a  local drug-dealing gang.

Authorites made their arrests on Wedsneday, as a follow-up to a year-long investigation which involved local, federal and state officials. Police seized 32 pounds of methamphetamine, $20,000 in cash and 10 guns.

Gang Member Arrests in Long Beach Nab Eight Suspects

LONG BEACH — Thursday, the Long Beach Police Department arrested eight subjects in connection with 12 gang related shootings, in where two people have died since July of ’09. This sweep included one of Long Beach’s most notorious gangs, the East Side Longos.

Since July and August of 2009, there was not much evidence in which to link the past shootings to. No subjects had been identified.  However, since this current take down, one suspect has emerged. 28-year old Ruhani Bustamante, a Long Beach resident is now believed to be the main suspect responsible for the deaths and eleven of the shootings.
