DUI Arrest for Bakersfield Senator Roy Ashburn
Written by Robin Sandoval-March on March 4, 2010 – 10:16 am -Sports celebrities are not alone, just after 2 a.m. early Wednesday, R-Bakersfield State Sen. Roy Ashburn was pulled over by CHP officers after they noticed his driving erratically. The Senator was at the wheel of a state Senate-issued Chevy Tahoe.
When stopped, officers noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication. He was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors. One for driving with a blood alcohol level in excess of .08% and DUI.
Ashburn was accompanied by an unknown passenger in the vehicle. Jay Bart, of the CHP said the Senator submitted to the chemical test for blood alcohol and was reportedly very cooperative with the arresting officers.
Ashburn arrived at a Sacramento County jail sometime before 4 a.m. and was later released.

Kings Forward Andres Nocioni “Slam Dunked” Into Jail For DUI
Written by Robin Sandoval-March on November 5, 2009 – 7:53 pm -Just a few hours after taking 6 rebounds from the Atlanta Hawks and scoring 14 points for his team, Andres Nocioni, the Sacramento Kings forward was pulled over and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
After the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol in his vehicle, they requested he take a breathalyzer test. The South American basketball star didn’t have much to say after that. He was booked into jail on DUI charges and released from a Sacramento jail early Thursday morning on bail.

Governor Signs “Interlock Device” Bill To Keep Drunk Drivers Off California Roads
Written by Robin Sandoval-March on October 13, 2009 – 12:05 pm -In what will surely be known as a ground-breaking decision for California, Governor Arnold Schwarzeneggar has signed a bill that will test requiring drivers previously convicted of a DUI to install an ‘ignition interlock device’ in their cars. When a person blows into this in-car alcohol breath screening device, it will block the vehicles capacity to start should alcohol be detected on their breath.
Assemblyman Mike Feuer, a Democrat from Los Angeles wrote the bill which will expire in 2016.
