17 Arrested In Vista Jail Warrant Sweep
Written by Bail Expert on November 30, 2011 – 6:03 am -
San Diego County Sheriffs officials have been conducting a number of warrant sweeps in recent weeks. The most recent sweep took place last week in Vista, in which 17 were arrested and taken to the Vista Detention Center Jail.
KUSI 10-News has reported that the sweep took place on Black Friday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and took place as part of the Department’s “Holiday Watch” program. According to a statement put out by the Sheriff’s Department, the warrant sweep was coupled with a command post at the Walmart shopping center. During that time Deputies and Senior Volunteer Patrol (SVP) members conducted direct patrols on foot, bikes as well as in marked and unmarked cars.
The command post, say Sheriffs officials, was supported with a public information campaign, as well as on-site Crime Prevention Specialists who spoke to people about what they could do to avoid becoming victimized during the holiday shopping season.
Vista Station Lt. Charles Cinnamo said the purpose of the Holiday Watch program is to Read more »

San Diego Sheriff Prepares to Launch New Crime-Prevention Strategy
Written by 888BailBond Bondsman on June 2, 2011 – 11:48 am -According to the San Diego Union Tribune, San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore has plans to hire eight additional sheriff’s deputies and a sergeant that will be used to target certain unincorporated areas of the County of San Diego.
This new strategy will use data analysis in addition to other intelligence in order to focus on incidents and offenders that harm the community most. The goal of this new crime-fighting plan is to know where probationers and parolees reside in each patrol beat. With this information, officers will be able to solve crimes sooner.
“This way we can target a particular crime in a particular area of San Diego County and really have an impact and drive down some crime rates in high-crime areas,” said Gore.
The department’s move toward a more intelligence-led policing strategy is an important move. Commanders have already begun to prepare assignments for new deputies in stations across the county’s unincorporated areas to help keep up with the ever-growing population.
The department has already seen some success with the border-crime suppression team which shows how effective and flexible a targeted approach can be.

Old-Time Keeping The Peace: Sheriffing in Rural San Diego County
Written by 888BailBond Bondsman on April 18, 2011 – 12:08 pm -Policing throughout the rural areas of San Diego is very similar to the old-time ways of law enforcement. These days, though, instead of deputies mounted on horseback roaming the countryside looking for any hint of trouble, they make the rounds in Ford Expeditions loaded with computers and high-tech equipment worth thousands of dollars.
According to Signon San Diego, San Diego Sheriff’s Deputies will talk to residents for hours, keeping up-to-date on what’s happening and finding out about anything unusual that may be going on. The deputies are not just occasional visitors to the area. The areas of the countryside that they patrol at all hours of the night are also the places they call home.
“It’s community-oriented policing to the extreme,” said Deputy Erik Munzenmaier, one of the 28 deputy sheriff’s for the rural area.
The beat that Deputy Munzenmaier covers spans an area of about 400 square miles in the northeastern part of San Diego. He is assigned to the Warner Springs-Ranchita Sheriff Station which includes not only the Warner Springs Community but also Read more »

They say you are what you wear, but one 20-year-old man had to turn his duds in for sporting the clothes he allegedly stole from a dryer. The man was arrested for burglary after he was found wearing his “hot” new look, which he managed to put on before fleeing the scene.
A 911 caller alerted police that the thief was being chased by the victim, whose clothes had been taken from a dryer in the caller’s garage. The caller described the thief and what he had on: jeans and a sweatshirt. Well… that certainly narrowed it down…
